Good evening from a sunny Mullion Cove Cornwall.

Do any of you gentleman have a Precision mount like the one pictured for sale or swap.

The dish size is 1.3 but will be fitting a 1.4 Triax to it some how : )

I have the ground stand for it also pictured to swap if required.

God Bless Spiff

I might have, though I did throw something similar away a couple of years back since there were no bearings as such (and the modern elevation actuator was never going to lift a 2m dish without a full counterweight system)

Show us an image of the 1.4 and I'll go look in the shed , again.

It's just like this:

Triax 2140 prime focus aluminium antenna w. polar mount

Except spiff's was green and is now black...

Good evening Channel Hopper & STI,

Thank you both for your replies : )

The dish shown on the Precision Antenna mount, is a Precision Antenna 1.3.

I am looking for the same mount, as I like the way it is built and it stands up to 90mph gales and gusts very well : )

I have a second dish mounted below it a 1.4 Triax with a Triax mount painted black.

The same as the one pictured at STI's link.

I tie down the dish on the Triax mount in the winter as its mount is not as well built.

Then I can sleep at night : )

If I can locate another Precision mount I will then adapt the Triax dish to it, which should not be hard.

If I could find a 1.4 Precision mount dish as well that would be better, but larger dishes are difficult to have transported, where as just the Precision Antenna mount should be OK for carriers.

God Bless Spiff

Those Precision mounts are beasts and built like a tank. Fully galvanised and very heavy duty. Minor regular maintenance to the top and bottom bearings is all that's needed. Makes Channel Master mounts look like Chinese carp...

I have 1.2m Kathrein PFA with original polar-mount and actuator (with optical sensor). This mount is just perfect, very well designed.

Spiff,

I you do not manage to locate a second hand version of the mount you could always take out a bank loan and buy a nice shiny brand new one from Elite Antennas. They will probably be able to supply one as they have the old Precision tooling and drawings.

I think they make the polar mounts to order nowadays but they might have a few available off the shelf. Get ready to think large if you get a quote from them, they deal in big numbers.

Good morning from an overcast Mullion Cove : (

Thank you for the replies, yes the Precision Antenna is very well engineered, built to last.

This one had lain in the gentleman's garden for 15 years and before that had been at Goonhilly : )

The Kathrein PFA with original polar-mount and actuator also looks of similar sturdy construction.

We tried rotating the image, but still could not quite figure out the mounting orientation : )

God Bless Spiff

If nothing turns up I shall have to go for one of these.

They look reasonably well made and simple to adapt for inclined orbit, rather that pay the extra for the custom made version : )

God Bless Spiff

These SSS mounts are not a patch on Precision. I set one up very similar to this for "Primesat" PF dish and it was a bit awkward to work with. Should be OK once set up, though..

Mine was easy to set up, good quality, certainly better than it was on the 1224! The dish was dancing around like a daffodil when it was windy on that.

They seem to be of Famaval origin, we have learned from other sources on this forum.
But probably ok, nonetheless. Most likely sturdier than the sheet-iron Triax (which nevertheless has worked fine here for a year).

Yes, they are made by Famaval, I find it very sturdy..
