Sandisk 32gig usb stick, whats the proper way to setup for recording

My Satellite Setup
80cm motorised Inverto dish with Dark Motor full metal gears, Xtrend 9500HD, Amiko Alien 2+, Amiko Alien 8900, Moded Zone 2 dish with multi LNB goodness! 50 inch full HD LCD and loads of other stuff! lol

I have never had any probs with Sandisk usb sticks so I must be doing something wrong with my Solo & this usb drive, so help please I'm on Vix 2.3 & I have tspanel for formating the usb stick as EXT2,EXT3 or EXT4.
 
Might be easier to format(fat32)it on the pc then set it up on the Solo
