Satmeter Setup help!

My Satellite Setup
60cm dish aimed at astra 28.2 e.
Windows 11 pc.
My Location
Ireland
Hi. Never has a meter before. Picked up one at a rumble sale recently. I have an idea how to use it. But i dont know the frequency to use for astra 28.2e. I have looked around the net but no basic info.(I'm not a professional? I just want to get the free uk channels. So if anyone has any info I'd be very grateful. Ps the meter is a Megasat hd 1 digital.

Try the following:
Frequency: 11224MHz
Polarisation: Horizontal
Symbol Rate: 27500
FEC: 2/3
Modulation: DVB-S QPSK

That transponder is not in use on the nearby 19.2°E satellites so if you can lock it you should be aligned on 28.2°E. A full list of frequencies can be found on Lyngsat:

 
Maybe he asked for the IF value? Not sure.
I do not know your meter. If it shows the satellite frequency, @ozumo just replied to you.
If you need the IF value, you can easily calculate it subtracting the OL frequency.
The satellite low band (10700-11700 MHz) needs OL of 9750 MHz;
The satellite high band (11700-12750 MHz) needs OL of 10600 MHz.
So, following the @ozumo's example, 11224 MHz would result in a IF value of:
11224 - 9750 = 1474 MHz

You are very lucky to find such a fine instrument. It is still supported by Megasat. Did you already update your instrument?
Last update is 2024 though, and as during that year BBC changed a lot of their transponders, the Astra 2 transponder list will not be very accurate by now.

For your convenience, here is a recent measure-report from my Megasat HD 7.
For Freesat, only the first 6 listed are needed. btw MER equals C/N, usually MER is a little bit higher.

Yes I updated it from Megasat website but i couldn't align my dish. I am very grateful for the list you provided. And indeed to everyone here who gave me information.

First be sure your LNB setting is correct. Most of the time you will have a Universal LNB. If you don't know, post a picture of your disc and LNB.

If you have no reception on any transponder from the A2 transponder list found in the Sat search menu, switch to Spectrum analysis (home menu).
Now adjust your disc with elevation (up/down angle) and azimuth (left/right direction) until you see any signal that looks like what the manual shows. Adjust with small steps, the disc has only a few degrees viewing angle. Adjust to maximum level (a quick setting is sufficient).

Now again select a couple of transponders in the sat search menu until you acquire a lock.
Wait some time, your meter is searching for a NIT table in the signal to identify the satellite. This would take 2-20 seconds.
If it shows the wrong satellite go left or right to find a new signal in the spectrum display.
And so on, until you find the Astra 2. Now you can optimise your disc for max level on the quality and level bars.

No, Megasat uses a different file-format.
But what you can do, is make an export of your satellite data to the USB disc and place this file on this thread, so I can have a look at it.
My HD7 combo uses the XML format which I can edit with a XML editor.
If the file is rejected by the forum software, zip it.

Megasat uses an unknown database file structure in this file. It is not recoqnised by online file checkers.

I think you have to find out yourself how to edit the existing transponders in the list on the instrument itself.
It is explained in the manual. Learn how to edit satellites, editing transponders works the same, navigate to the list on the right to edit transponders.
if you run into problems, ask here. Use screenshots if possible.
I would start simple by editing the first 8 transponders in the Astra 2 transponder list.
Use the file you created as a backup to start all over.
 
I wonder if you have reception from Astra 2 by now.
If not, this document will help you setup de disc and LNB:

Hi again.
I unfortunately didn't have time to try align my dish in the last few days. Bit I found the file you attached really very helpful. I will be attempting to sort the dish out again next weekend and feel very confident of succeeding with the advise that you Kindy gave. Thank you yet again..I will update you how it goes.
