Hi everyone,
I've been experiencing an issue with some of the frequencies on the Eutelsat 16A satellite. Specifically, the following frequencies seem to suffer from signal drops at certain times during the day:

  • 10721
  • 11429
  • 12522
  • 12568
The signal drops occur at random times, and after a few hours, the signal level returns to normal. The other frequencies are stable and don't experience any issues.
Has anyone else faced something similar? Any insights or suggestions on how to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, 16A is an ageing satellite and has problems, I observe same patterns even in the heart of Europe.

new satellite with better footprint is needed.
Europe is moving away from satellite delivery of content - we have already seen one orbital slot not filled when the existing satellite reached end of life (27.5W). More will inevitably follow.

Plus you forget newer satellites tend to have tighter beams - which cuts down fringe reception possibilities. As I see it theres no brand new satellite coming to 16E. The only chance of a replacement for 16A is moving in a redundant & probably elderly bird from elsewhere.

16E has always been a funny one. I never did figure out what dish size is needed to receive the various frequencies on there, despite the favourable footprints in Europe from various sats at that location. Wonder if the neighbouring 13E and 19E are interfering with 16E sandwiched in the middle. Especially with the smaller dishes, with wider beamwidths?

Absolutely the case. The dish needs to be pin-pointed 100% or else ... problems.

12522 V 10833 Albania
is much weaker now than on their previous frequency... are they really saving a lot of money, weakening their signal?
Too bad .
I found them interesting!

There are three packages (12522, 12537 and 12568) sharing the same transponder (F2). This probably affects the strength.
