Hi, I'm looking to get into blind scanning and I was wondering which tuner to get. The "Lite" version of the TBS 5930 is 50% cheaper. Is there anything I'll miss out on by getting the cheaper version of the TBS 5930?

I was also wondering if generic stream is supported on either of these tuners with NeumoDVB.

Thank you!

I got the lite version recently, it can decode "normal" DVB-S/S2 plus MIS/PLS (multi input stream, physical layer scrambling) with regular MPEG-TS content - I'm pretty certain that neither will give you the raw baseband frame output needed to decode generic stream transmissions.

The blindscan functionality works, I've been using VMA in Windows. The TBS5930 Lite doesn't seem to be able to lock very low symbol rate transmissions though, if that's something you're after. I haven't managed to get it to lock anything below SR 1000 so far.

Can it lock short frame transponders like Siminn on 1°W 11049V 3500?

I take that back, it does seem to work -

I haven't been able to get anything to play in VMA TS Analyser yet though, although it does seem to find the multicast addresses in the MPE/IP section.

Some packets are dropped but I'm not sure whether that's because of an unrelated problem this laptop seems to have with running satellite demuxing like this stably

Thanks, might have to buy one of these. Curious that VMA's app reports the Siminn transponder as being long frame :-confused

Thank you for the info. My trusty TBS 5927 bit the dust recently and I’m looking to buy a replacement for it. I mostly only use it for blindscanning but I appreciate having generic stream support for software defined radio work
