Hi, I have just ordered the above box, is anyone using one please, if so what's your thoughts on the box and what image are you using.
 
I am reading good reports on the openvix image so I have downloaded the 3.0.808 file,
Thanks to all for the work on this image and thanks to Huevos for his work on blindscan this is important to me :).
 
|Looks like I am not getting a solo any time soon.I may have another look at this.At least I would know someone that has one.:D
 
I do like the tm's I have three at the moment and the nano on the way, they have never let me down apart from the psu board packing up on my 1500 but I had it a good 5 years, looking forward to pulling my air out again with this one:-lol
 
I like my TM9100 still use it a bit in the summer. It lives in the shed.But it is showing its age a bit now.

No blindscan on the Nano. The hardware is not capable.
 
Thank you huevos, I will have to work round that then. it still does everything else I need it to do and looking forward to playing with Linux again.
 
Yep I find openvix to be the best image for E2 receivers. It just works without too much messing about
 
The open vix image that came on my Duo was just awful.

It was badly written - changing the skin on it changed the key mappings.

Sorry, but changing skin cannot change the button mapping. A skin is just an xml file that controls presentation, and a directory of images used for that presentation.

There are 1000's of hours work in the OpenViX image and it is one of the best E2 images out there. AS, I'm not trying to make you change your opinion as I know you really dislike E2 and are not too keen on the Duo either, but I'd hate others to be put off before at least giving it a try.

BTW, I've got a TM Single which is almost identical to the Nano.
 
I am more or less clueless with Linux so I don't need much from it, webif and a few plugins and I should be happy and then just plod on learning new things, I have a spare hard drive to fit that will come in handy at times, I am looking forward to pulling my hair out with it :).
 
What hard drive is it? If it's for internal, it needs to be 2.5" SATA and requires an optional caddy.

Also you need 2 USB flash drives. One permanently plugged in and formated to EXT4 (for picons and suchlike) and the other formatted in FAT32 (flashing software). 4GB each would be good.
 
Well follow my advice above about the USB stick, especially while there is no hard disc fitted as you don't want the EPG writing to the internal flash (as AS found out with the Duo).

Thank you Huevos, I have a 4gb and a 1gb, I will pop out tomorrow and get another 4gb.

1GB would be ok for flashing images. Images are less than 100MB.
 
I have flashed using ftp ? I think it was before, is this possible with this box please, I know it took me a while to do it at the time but I got there in the end:), but I will be taking the easy route even if it is possible for the time being.

There's some xml file that controls keymaps but not sure if it's one that comes with skin. Either way, there are options within openvix itself as well a number of plugins to change keys to whatever you want.

AS, I think you should give it another chance. Or sell it and get something you'll like?

You simply put the image on a USB stick, plug it in. Turn off and on the box at the back/mains and you'll be asked whether you want to upgrade the software. Press Ch- button on the front and that's it.
