Which of the current crop of new dishes out there is considered the best?

Around the 1m mark.

I was tending towards Aluminium and something like the Gibertini 100cms SE Pro.

Fortunately I picked up a Satman 850plus in the meantime as well.

What is the concensus on what is the best stuff out there to stick on a diseqc motor right now?

Laminas 120 is a light and good antenna.

There are quite a few antennas, gibertini, Emmeese, triax. I mentioned the Laminas 120, precisely because it is an extremely light antenna, but essential. larger than the other sizes by about 1m. In general, there are no big differences between the manufacturers as far as the signal level is concerned, but there is a difference in the materials and the weight of the antenna.

Depends what you define as "best", do you mean the absolute max signal or a fair amount for the size?

Best for signal and performance.

Signal to price ratio is also worth considering.

I have a boxed Technisat Satman 850plus ready to go up but that is 85cm. I may use that for 28.2E or it may go up as the main for motorised if there is no better 1m option available.

I think Aluminium is the best material.

Is this revised size limit down to neighbours/planning restrictions ?

I would still try the Prodelin dish though the major issue will be the corroded feed assembly, which will require changing completely.

No, the Prodelin will be more at ground level. I would need to whip off the arms and re-fabricate in order to fit a 40mm feed assembly.

The 1m is a replacement for an install higher up on the wall. Partially to stay within planning but also to keep it light and less vulnerable.

Unless things have changed the regs are just one dish of 1m (on top of a Zone1/2 Sky system) but understood.
