Why a quality of signal is 0%

Hello, recently I was tunning a dish to Astra 3 , 23.5 and I don't know why but couldn't get any quality signal with my Amiko multitracker.
The meter was showing signal 100% but the quality was 0%.
Do you know where could be the problem?

Wrong modulation.
Signal is a reading of signal power.
Quality is the bit error rate. With wrong parameters you don't get a lock, hence quality is zero.

Hi, do you know I to set the modulation on that Amiko Multitracker. I was able to focus a parabola on Thor 0.7 without any problem and when I tried Astra 3 suddenly the quality was 0% but the signal 100%. I don't think I can set the modulation (DVB-S2 / 8PSK) on that meter.

So maybe your dish setup is not aimed at 23.5E right now?
High "signal level" often just means, that your receiver detects a working LNB.

Yes, it is possible that the dish needs more aimed at 23.5E.
I was just wondering whether it was normal that the quality was 0% and the signal100%.

The correct way to do dish alignment with a field meter is to use the spectrum analyser mode to point to a satellite until you max the transponder amplitude (spikes).
Then you try one transponder, ideally with blind scan. Once locked you use the NIT to know which satellite you are looking at. You may need to consult Lyngsat to understand which satellite has that transponder (frequency Vs contained services).

But not all meters have spectrum and blindscan.

With experience you recognize the satellite by its characteristic spectrum fingerprint.

Also, you can program the field meter channel list to include one representative transponder per satellite, ideally use transponders that are unique for each satellite relative to the neighbouring satellites.

In the absence of blind scan you can try common settings like SR27500, 30000, ... FEC 2/3, 3/4, 5/6, ... Modulation DVB-S, DVB-S2, QPSK/8PSK.

With experience this becomes natural to do. Just don't expect a cheap meter to do all this work automatically.

I continue to say that the Emitor Satlook Digital NIT was the easiest field meter to use for dish alignment. The Satlook Colour HD is still a great meter for this.
