Hi,

I have an Echostar AD-3000IP with version 300, and I tried to upgrade it to version 1100 using a pc, serial cable and win XP.
I first loaded the bootstrap. it was completed successfully.
Then I started to download version 1100. it had estimated 28 minutes, and went upto 10 min 39 sec , and it stopped there. the receiver was still showing dnld (download) on its front LCD screen. I waited a long time, nothing changed, it was still hanging. I had to turn the receiver off, and on.
When restarting the same process, I had the same result.
Then I tried version 300. the same result. 400, the same result !
what has happened? was the memory full, and that's why it did not go further than 10min 39 sec ?
are they signs of a flash issue? can I fix it by myself?

thanks,
Keydil

Hi,

Indeed, the flash needs a bootloader when put in the reciever.
If an dealer does the replacement then the latest software is put in the eeprom too.
So, it is not just the "simple" replacement of the chip itself.

Echostar stated that for the older AD 3000 IP a new software version is eminent, lets wait for that too, but you need the chip relaced anyway.

Still don't see a reason to replace my reciever, it works fine, i get from 50 east to 50 west here, and the MR initialises perfect in it.

Cheers,

Cor.

Blimey this thread is 17 years old - time to close it I think - 3000's have been effectively obsolete for over a decade. Ive still got my 3000VA in the shed somewhere - great receiver at the time but just a door stop now.
