The message below has come up on my tv screen.

"We detected an issue with your hard drive. To resolve this please reboot your box."

I have tried several times to reboot but no joy. I would like to do a full factory reset, I know the consequences but can't find how to do it.

I can't access my settings page because I can't by pass the above message on my tv screen.

Any ideas please?

Have you powered it down ?

Holding down the power button for 5 seconds is supposed to force a reboot but I suspect you'll end up at the same point.

I have rebooted many times. I am trying to do a Full Factory Reset, any ideas?

How old is it? Have you tried contacting Freesat support? You could try swapping the hard drive but that would likely invalidate any warranty.

Hi guys thanks for support and comments, much appreciated. I've tried technical support but just getting a lot of music??? I suspect it is the hard drive. The technical number I have is 0345 313 0051, is this correct or is there another contact number I can use?

Number is correct but you could try the support form on this page
Code:

I believe we all suspect it is the hard drive.

I'm having the exact same problem. Did you ever manage to resolve this issue?

Hi Sean1,

Apologies for the delayed response mislaid my login details. Ok,the hard drive problem. We could not resolve the issue, so we bought a replacement drive for £15 and took 5 mins to install. There is obviously a memory chip/card in the unit as it still knew what programs to record after putting in the new hard drive, handy.

Hi, thanks for your reply and advice. I phoned Freesat and they talked me through a factory reset but despite this the problem remained. They told me I would need to buy a new box (£229).
I am first going to take your advice and try replacing the hard drive.
Will let you know if I have any success.

Hi, FYI took out the old drive, couple of small screws. Copied the model number into the search engine, looked at the pics and bought a look a like. Had no problems since, happy days.

A big thank you for your advice and help. I bought a replacement drive from Amazon for £13. Replaced the faulty drive and everything working perfect now.
Glad I didn't take the advice from Freesat call centre otherwise I would have dumped it and bought a new. box at £229.
Thanks again

Nice result. I replaced the 2TB hdd in our Sky HD box last year - I used a WD purple drive. Its worked absolutely fine since I replaced it & the missus has managed to totally fill it up with thousands of hours of tosh again :-doh.:-doh
