Eutelsat Hot Bird 13F & 13G

Since there is some discussion about whether and how much the signal has increased or decreased with the transfer of transponders to Hotbird 13F and 13G, I think it is more eloquent for those who have DVB cards to post the signal on the two satellites in their reception areas.
As far as I can tell from the frequency and number of people following this thread, I would guess that there are many users from all parts of Europe interested in these Hotbirds. A comparison between the spectra in these areas would tell us much more about what improvements or shortcomings the new satellites have than if one or another user on the thread is telling us the signal has increased or dropped on who knows what transponder. That saying, a picture says more than 1000 words.
Now that @Marcus_21 :Ytells us that Hotbird B and E are empty, and so the muxes have been transferred to 13F and 13G, I thought it would be good to post the signal level they have in my area obtained with the 1.50m antenna. I found 90 muxes.

Is it still possible that Hotbird will be strengthened?? Because after transferring the frequencies to 13G, we lost many txps in Asia middle east.
Unlikely. The power levels generally are much higher in Europe than before which is nice for us. The complaints Ive seen in the ME are the loss of the pay tv services - Polsat & Sky Italia. To be blunt you arent in the primary target area for these channels so you cant complain if you have lost them.

I have seen many Italian and polish forum's where customers are complaining that signal level is low compared to previous old satellite's with loss of 2 to 3 dB

It's not case with middle East only

To be honest I have read an article on polish site's that

13g and f have some issues during manufacturing or faults occur during launch and both satellite's working with compromised performance

Guesswork - nothing more. If the satellite(s) do have compromised performance (which I think is unlikely) then insurance claims will be filed & it will confirm something isnt right

However seeing as both satellites have been extensively tested prior to slotting at 13East any problems would have shown up during testing. Eutelsat would not have acepted either satellite into service if there was anything seriously wrong with them (they didnt accept W2M into service a few years ago due to problems with it.) There is certainly plenty of power over the northern UK - Im seeing massively improved signals from 13G on my system here.

I'm pretty close to Poland (southern part of Sweden) and here the signal from 13 F/G is a great deal stronger on pretty much all transponders compared to 13 B/C/E. None is weaker.

In Bulgaria the signals have not really changed much, .2dB here or there on some transponders but otherwise regular business. This would appear to show that there is a drop further to the east from western europe that you go but I can't really confirm anything definitive. If anyone knows how to provide a bandscan on Linux then I'd be happy to help but my TV Headend server is monitorless.

If you want to do (blind) scanning on Linux, you can install neumoDVB. The application has multiple functions. But better read with used on this thread, and you will see it is worth installing.
Here is a scan on Hotbird with neumoDVB. It looks like it was after transferring muxes on 13F and 13G.
I scanned with the tbs6903x card, which scanned faster than Crazyscan under Windows.

Signal reports between receivers is pretty much meaningless. You can put 2 different receiver on the same dish & cable & get different signal strength readings.

Most receivers wont give a reading for 11623V anyway as its a DVB-S2X data stream so that one is a poor one to choose.

For those of you using neumoDVB for a long time, and if you have not cleared your database, then you can use the signal history feature to compare hiow SNR, strength etc. changed over time. Unfortunately I have not experimented a lot on hot bird, so I have not many data points
myself.

Here is one example showing data on 10917V between August and now (no change)

history2.png

And here is what happens when a tree (fir) is growing to large and on top of that starts to lean over, blocking signals from 52E.
I have lost 6dB, but I plan to get it back. The tree has been warned and has until tomorrow to respond to my ultimatum.

The graph is perhaps a little confusing because at some point I was debugging diseqc problems.
which lead to zero SNR readings.

Different symbols are used for different lnb/card combinations, which can be useful if you have multiple dishes.
When symbols are connected by lines, it means the lnb was used over longer periods of time.

is it allowed to share external forums links so i share polish and Italian's forum links where lot of people complaining about signal loss.

There is also an article on satkor website about both satellite issues.

Should be okay as long as those sites don't share keys or promote card sharing etc.

isnt that an Intelsat position?
True but Intelsat may lease a satellite for this vacant spot just a thought.

Eutelsat 5 West B @ 5°west is down to 50% power due to the solar array failure so this could be another possibility.

Hello Marcus
Please verify HOTBIRD 13E really start or no start move because the satellite is start moving according n2yo

Does anyone wonder if it is not the source of the reduced power of the spot beam, for example.
