Switching 3 receivers to one dish

My Satellite Setup
fixed,polar mount and C band dish.
My Location
south africa
I wish to switch between 3 satellite receivers linked to one dish.Can members please advise me how to go about it.That is other than to remove the dish cable from the one receiver to another.
 
What type of dish installation is this?
Static single LNB?
Static multi LNB with DiSEqC switch?
DiSEqC motorised dish?
36v motorised dish?
 
Polar Mount tracking dish 1.2 M situated in Hermanus ,Western Cape. 4 dishes via diseqc switch,dish positioner with single LNB.
 
This might be an informative thread for you: 2 receivers to one TV set up

Options might be:
- loop through
- manual A/B switch
- priority switch
- 1/3 splitter (with diodes!)

I'd prefer the priority switch solution, of which you would need two (for three receivers).
However you'd have to check if your receivers still give power, once in standby, for how you set them up.

Edit: this would be for all 4 dishes. Do you want a solution for just ONE of your dishes? That would change things a bit.

I went the fancy way - a quattro LNB feeding a multiswitch with 8 outputs. Each of the outputs can be independently tuned in by any receiver (obviously from a single satellite).

I want to use 3 receivers with 1X 1.2 m dish and 3 X 90CM dishes by way of a diseqc switch.I have noted the fancy way and hope an easier way is possible.
 
4 way DiSEqC switch for each receiver with a quad LNB on each dish. Advantage is all receivers can use any dish at any time. Disadvantages are lots of cabling and only one receiver can move the steerable dish.

There you can also use priority switches (plus splitters), to have the possibility of motor command for other receivers as well.

One problem with 2 or more receivers trying to control a motorized dish, when someone is using receiver A, and is watching a program on one satellite and then someone on receiver B or C wants to watch a program on a different satellite then receiver A will loose the program.

If your the only one watching programming on the 3 receivers then there would not be a conflict.

The only reliable way to get 4 satellite dishes to 3 receivers is to use a multi switch, all LNB's need to have a dual output, (this so the satellite dishes LNB can deliver both channel polarity's to the switch at once) so you would need a 8 input switch, to at least a 3 or 4 output.

Mmmm. In Europe, for 'normal' universal LNBs, all should be quatro LNBs, so 4 outputs instead of dual outputs. Or you should use wideband LNBs (with two wideband outputs), and have a matching multiswitch that can handle that.

I know that universal LNBs are not often used in the USA.
@wium78 : is that also the case in (south) africa?

40 years of working with this stuff...The less equipment you have inline the less problems you may have.

Well, a multiswitch is another equipment inline. And I've read a lot about them having defective power supplies.
So "the only reliable way", as you wrote, I find a generalization that is hugely overdone, if not untrue, IMHO.

Of course, Jultec has excellent multiswitches that are receiver-fed. Those I would recommend.


For @wium78 , it looks like he doesn't want to do many changes to his one-cable-to-the-dishes, with single LNBs, setup.
But I must confess, he has not been very explicit as to how simple or how not-too-simple he wants a solution here..
