Interesting Solution re. The PVR Conundrum?

Go for a SATA. If WOS supplied the SSD it should work OK. You could try formatting in the box?

Yes, came from WoS. First thing I did was format it in the box (to NTFS).

Having said all this, I have an SSD in my Dreambox DM900, and that works like dream...lol

Downloads all the EPG components fairly quickly, but takes ages to parse them!

Seems like a decent enough FTA
box as long as the Amiko monkey keeps the 7 day epg source alive. My last Amiko, the mini combo lost its 7 day epg facility a couple of months into its operation. Bit of door stop without it.

Even easier
I am all set up and can see the channels, I am waiting for the EPG to populate. Formatted the Disk to Ntfs but not tried it yet.

It didn’t take long to set up I am quite pleased so far, it didn’t take long, it took me a while to find the F1 button

Day 2

Front Panel a tad bright for my taste, so I rummaged around in my spares box and found a previously unused IR Extender. Works fine.

And finally ..... @scopus was on the mark re. SSD: Hit and miss recording and it kept binning the EPG. Removed it and with a USB stick alone it is stable.

Just one more thing ..... Have plugged a USB hub in so I can check WiFi and that's all good too

Will get a caddy for the SSD and repurpose it as backup storage for SWMBOS photos etc.

In due course, will get a 2.5" conventional HDD for the Amiko.

Generally, though - quite happy.

Yesterday mine tried to parse the downloaded EPG and failed in the same place every time so I decided to leave it overnight and let it do the scheduled 2:00 am update, whilst its on standby. I am getting a nice suntan from the display, it is very bright

I will try a recording later today.

The EPG looks to be fine now, I have scheduled a recording for later this afternoon, lets see what happens.

I recorded my first program to the SSD and it worked fine :Y

The quick start guide was fine but we now need to find a more detailed Guide\Instruction book.

Quite. Easy enough for the cognoscenti, but not really a mass-market product.

I agree not a mass market product, Arris wont have any sleepless nights however, as long the EPG updates continue it will be value for money product.
