Freesat Single Cable Input From Dish With Quattro LNB via Second Cable or dSCR

Well I guess the easy way to confirm what is being carried on the cable/cables is get a local aerial/satellite guy in to test them with a spectrum analyser, they'll probabl;y check it for a service call charge, otherwise everything now is speculation..

Not sure how I would test it as I don’t have a long enough cable to stretch from the bedroom to the lounge and my 65” tv would be a nightmare to move! I will send the backplate photo and ask the question of an additional ‘other room’ feed to the managing agents to pass on to the satellite company which I hope is going to conduct an investigation in the next few weeks. Thanks.

I’m hoping they’ll be conducting a survey in the next few weeks so I will contact them via the managing agents to make sure they can access my flat to do any testing. Thanks.
 
If you can get hold of a voltmeter with a diode setting you can short the cable on one end and check the one in the back of the socket for a tone.

Then unshort and if the tone is off ......

So, the thing is, you’re on the right track. To use a Freesat recordable box with full recording functionality (like watching one channel while recording another), it typically needs either a second cable or a dSCR system.
The dSCR system (Digital Satellite Channel Router) allows multiple channels to be transmitted through a single cable, but not all setups support it, especially if your communal system isn’t configured for it.
If your current system doesn't support dSCR, then, yeah, the second cable option is your best bet. So, check with your building’s system provider to see if they can upgrade to dSCR, or if running another cable to your flat is possible. As for the Freesat box, yes, some of them support dSCR, but you’ll want to double-check the specific model you're interested in, as not all do.

Yes thanks I’ve asked the system provider to advise on upgrade to dSCR. Two cable option is not really a goer. If dSCR upgrade get’s approved, then as you suggest I’ll check up on Freesat recorder compatibility with manufacturer. There’s only one current Freesat recorder on the market (Freesat branded) so it’s Hobson’s choice! If it turns out it isn’t, I’ll be very surprised but I’ll then consider Sky Q.
 
As said earlier, the new one does, just that their customer services line are reading from a script and are not technically adequate, so don't understand what the terms mean.1743062980944.webp

You'll need a dSCR adapter installed in the head end cupboard, plus the agreement of the management company, as a bad installation could penalise other users. The unri takes four feeds off the main multiswitch and then converts two of them to legacy sat plus terrestrial and the other two into, Legacy/dSCR/terrestrial. however you really need test equipment to do this and an installer who knows systems. Is this quite an old system?

Not that works from a single universal feed you can't, the dSCR requires either a wideband (two feeds, H V) or four cables quad/quattro input.
