Installing motorised dish on north facing wall to overcome trees

My Dad has a zone 1 dish for 28 2e, which is currently on a pole above the apex. It was initially installed on the gable wall but has had to be raised a couple of times over the years due to trees opposite.

Unfortunately, it's once again suffering severe break ups since the leaves came on. It could probably be moved further up the pole but we simply can't reach it.

I've identified a location for a potential motorised install where there appears to be a LOS for most major sats from 28.2e to 30w (except 23.5e which hits a tree).

It's on the back overlooking the main roof to gain additional distance from the trees as the front of the house is just too close.

His receiver is a Gigablue UE UHD and there's an unused zone 2 dish on the front which could be moved to 30w (this part of the arc has no trees) and combined with the new install.

I've already bought a Technomate 2300 motor and still need a dish, pole, brackets and bolts etc. He doesn't want a dish much larger than around 65cm though.

The proposed install site overlooks the main roof near the westerly end of the extension. I've attached a screenshot of the arc from here and a couple of other pics from the back of the house.

Any advice much appreciated.

Should be possible, not lots of wall availablle though, you'd probably want a triple T&K bracket to spread the load over the available bricks, the bit by the alarm box would be the safest structurally as a much wider span of bricks.
 
Thanks. I was thinking that area near the alarm box myself.

I'm familiar with t and k's but what is a "triple t&k bracket" exactly please?

Also, how long should the pole be?
 
Triple T&K is just adding an extra K or T for support and spreading the load, how big does the stand off need to be to clear the gutter? This bracket is quite stable and you could add an extra T or K to spread the load to more of the wall. HIGH QUALITY 18" x 18" H+ Wall Bracket HD from Alltrade (05425). The height of the mast is purely dependent on necessity for a clear view of the satellites, the taller the mast, the more stress on the mount. To lighten the rig you could use a heavy duty aluminium 2" mast and look for an aluminium Penta dish. FRACARRO Penta 68cm Aluminium Dish Grey from Alltrade (211102)

I install the antennas in the backyard like this.
Then it is very convenient for any changes.
Only one cable will run from the Digital Satellite Equipment Control (DiSEqC) to the house, even if there are 4 antennas.

My Dad reckons the stand off is around 10 to 12 inches.

Not sure what length pole would be best but certainly one long enough to get over the trees. Maybe 8ft or something?

Could this H bracket be adjusted slightly after it's been attached to the wall to help get the pole plum, like you can with the T if using seperate T and K brackets?

Yes, but try and get it near correct on the initial installation, I used to use a fence post level strapped around a small piece of mast, u-bolted onto the bracket. Get the top two fixings in first, use a spirit level, nip them up, then using the post level or spirit levelmark up the bottom holes. The bracket holes are slotted, so there is a fair degree of additional adjustment.

Does a Technomate motor no longer have the ability to support 3" poles ?

Depends on how tall it needs to be to achieve the required arc, a length of 2" scaffold pole would work. aluminium if you can get it. What you have to consider is that when setting up a motor on a pole, you need to be able to reach it when setting up. You could al;ways look at a through roof mount, but that depends on how thick your joists are in the loft for anchoring the mast, but it would mean the dish was easily reachable once on the roof.
 
We only need to get between 28.2e and 0.8w. The far ends of the arc don't really matter especially as there's already an existing zone 2 dish on the front that can be moved to 30w.

I'm considering putting the new dish in the same place my phone was when I took that screenshot of the arc in the OP (assuming the dish sees the same thing as the app).

I was stood on the extension roof overlooking the main roof at the time with my phone held above my head. So, I'd say a foot or so above the gutter or as far as I can reach from below at least.
