Advice Needed Best modern replacement for Technomate TM-5402 M3?

I'm trying to understand the current receiver landscape as I'm looking to replace my TM 5402 M3 which has recently stopped working.

I have a couple of "Octagon SX8 HD ONE" mini receivers which I bought a while ago to get the multi-stream RAI channels on 5W (this was before 13E had them in HD), but this model rather a disappointment as AC3 audio doesn't work and the box has far fewer features than my TM 5402.

I'm not familiar with the significance of Linux receivers, beyond that it seems there's more custom firmware that can be installed, hopefully to add extra features.

These are the main features I want in a receiver:
  • Support 4k UHD, multi-streams, all the recent codecs, etc.
  • Tuning mode similar to the one on the TM 5402 where it shows a bar chart with many TPs at the same time
  • Blind scanning
  • Good support for motorised dish control
It seems Technomate are no longer releasing new receivers, and the overall landscape looks more limited than I remember.

I'd also be open to buying a PC card. Although I do have an old TBS6920 which I never really got working (Linux or Windows), had lots of driver problems and couldn't find any good software. I think this card couldn't do blind scans either.
 
Shop around for an Octagon, older type.

The SF8008 here is around three years in full time operation and still faultless.
 
He's not in touch with Enigma 2 which is not an out of the box solution.

From the opening post

You have me confused, whats wrong with this , Technomate TM-5402 M4 HD, over at world of sat, brand new.

Agreed.........faultless, as is the latest 'V3 SUPREME Twin' version and here at around €140, definiion of a bargain!! :-clap

The Mk4 is not UHD (strictly speaking it is not a 5402 either)
 
Having had a look at what's for sale new, it seems that for 4K the only options are "Enigma2" based Linux receivers. Some of these are from brands supported by OpenPli and OpenViX, some only OpenViX, or maybe other Enigma2 Linux distros.

The trouble with detaching the software from the hardware is that now I want to ensure I'm getting good hardware specifications. These Linux boxes are ARM based computers with a chipset for DVB. So now I need to check the details of the CPU, RAM, etc. I've already found boxes that are said to be "new for 2025" with the "latest chipset", but when researching the the model number I find news items on the first devices with this chipset being launched in 2015. As these chipsets integrate TV capabilities there will be a finite selection of them which a box could use.

With all that said, the SF8008 V3 SUPREME TWIN does seem a good choice. Although it doesn't support SATA HDD (only NVMe which is an odd choice for PVR), plus I've read that the older not "SUPREME" version has better sensitivity than this latest version. Overall it seems the market for Linux receivers is also shrinking, based how much was out of stock. Given that, would it be best to buy a used SF8008?

I also had a look into PCIe cards, but the prices are high considering that all you get is a tuner. Whereas for the same price you can get an entire receiver which is a computer in itself and Enigma2 offers a lot more features than I was expecting.
 
if you dont work vith linuxe2 amd find it dificult a i do to there is ome perfect solution dd Viarkk sat4k it is 4k receiver decodes multstistraming it has a factoty c closed opreating system. God suport for motorized system diseqc1.2 and Usuals.

Tuner sensitivity was not in your earlier requirements.

If it isn't then the ZGemma (H9S) boxes are cheap but do the job adequately.
 
After some more searching I've concluded that ZGemma is no longer manufacturing satellite boxes. It seems AB Pulse, VU+, and Octagon are the only ones available brand new. On eBay ZGemma seems cheap, so I'll either get one of those or an SF8008, although I don't think the SF8008 is justified for twice the price.

I have a Zgemma H9S that is very poor on the high band.
 
GTMEDIA V7 S2X DVB-S2X is my favourite stb for around £30.

Has a really old style menu system which is great.

I dont think this model does 4K. But has amazing picture quality and a nice remote.

( Works great with motor )

The manufacturers are probably affected by the huge demand for memory chips for AI like the rest of the electronics industry.

Memory chips are in virtually everything, even though their capacity may be small.
 
True tv s Toasters everyzhing is go a chip in it so is is a huge crisis but asume that there old stocks of receivers
