70W C-Band

Them ALGA Red's are reet top class 5G bandpass filters, top Pro grade.
Just so happens that I have some for sale at huge wad

Yep they really are :Y.... rated at rx pass 3.82~4.2GHz with nice sharpe rx cut-off either end of the rx range with very low insertion loss effectively kills the local 5G signal at 3.8G dead - better than the same range Norsat 3200F-BPF-8 5G lnb.

Hmmm it might be but not 100% sure as i can receive 3.890 H ok allthough a lot weaker than the 3.810 H signal vid posted #97. I'll put an extra 5G filter, the ALGA RED , in front of the Norsat 3200F-BPF-8 and observe the difference.

Done that particular external ALGA RED 5G filter addition to the Norsat lnb - very effective but too much system loss incurring neccessitating a step up in dish size to be a usable option. The game continues

Last chance to see any analogue on 70W as there's news going around that they'll be shut off by the end of August (ie this week!). Catch it if you can!

70° West scan this afternoon ..... There's not a lot to see now, the only PAL channels that are showing on the analyser are 4170 V , 4011 H, 4030 H. Digital channels both H & V are shown on the analyser but are too low in strength for the 2.2PF / Titanium 5G lnbf / Echostar LT8700 rx / GTX Combo rx to do anything with.
Have to say again that the TiT 5G lnbf is a good performer and does a good job rejecting the 5G interference although has a bit of a rapid drop off from 3.9GHz or so downwards but still excellent performance for the price.
** The two 70° W beacons at 4198.50H & 4199.50H are still at a good strength here in North Nottinghamshire UK.

Does that mean the other ones are gone completely or just being filtered by the 5G LNB? Does anything useful show up without the filter?

5G wasn't that terrible here for PAL but not enough for digital stuff to lock.

I have a 5G tower nearly 300 mtrs away with a 5G panel pointing at me - there is total rx wipeout virtually on all the arc without any filter in use.
Two analyser grabs showing the destruction of rx channels from 5G, one from Feb 23 and the identical present day one - the one with time stamp of Feb 2023 is when 5G was not operating from my doorstep cell tower 300m away but was operating from a more distant tower aprox 1 mile away and also at a lower 5G frequency of just under 3.7GHz that didn't cause the destructive 'wash' effect further up the band. It's when the 5G operating frequency of just under 3.8GHz that the mayhem started. The picture grab of the channel on 3810 H was taken before the local 5G tower started, you can also see on the Feb 23 analyser grab the amount of Hor PAL signals there was and also the stronger amplitude of the signals compared to today. The todays analyser grab also illustrates the extreeme power of the 5G signals.

** The time stamp on the PAL picture grab is wrong - the pic was taken before 5G destruction.

Another look at 70°West this morning from Central UK for any changes - No signs of any PAL sigs Ver or Hor.
Vertical digitals can be seen but just a bit too low to get a lock - Titanium C138 5G lnbf doing a fine job fending off the very strong 5G signals from 300 mtrs away.

Now, we have only (3730 V / 1416 *L) analog channel. All others, down.

More cities using 5G, then, coming soon, no more 1416 L.

In my area in the UK, 17k North of Nottingham City i have about four 5G active masts located in close proximity around me, the nearest is less than 300mtrs away and radiates very very strong destructive carriers at 3.8GHz and more downwards

I've not actually tested 3730V since around 2 years ago now but it was somewhat watchable even with 5G interference.

2023 was the best receive time for me for 70° West , 5G had arrived but was on towers about a mile away and radiating down towards the bottom end of Cband and didn't swamp the Norsat lnb's in use.
Shortly afterwards the distant cells started using the 5G sigs at 3.8GHz and that did cause some problems, shortly after that the local cell tower less than 300m away started using the 5G 3.8GHz slot and so Game Over for 70°W Dx.
Reasonable reception, but far from the pre-5G excellent reception days is now ranging from 3.875 to 4.20 with the use of the fortified Titanium C138 5G lnbf

New scan on 70W C-band. Note: It is currently 12:00 PM on a rainy day; the signal improves significantly at night. I have 56 channels programmed into my receiver. The strongest frequency is 3990 V, with 3 channels from Band São Paulo.

No 5g there I guess?
Yes, 5G has arrived here; I used to use the Titanium C1-PLL. 5G reached this area two years ago, and I lost the signal on all C-band satellites. Last year, I bought the Titanium C138; since then, I’ve been able to watch everything perfectly, and they are better than their predecessors.

Although i see no footprint data for us here in the UK, this is all i see now on 70° W digital Cband from the 2.2m PF, 5G external filter with Norsat lnb in use. Vert pol signals shown, Hor signals even worse. All shown digital signals well under lock.
