Satlink WS6906 upgrade (mine)

The com port is a serial interface on your pc, i have no idea if there is a converter for it.
 
Do you have a 9 pin socket on your laptop,that would be a serial port.
 
no it does not have any port like this , it means that i must look for a normal pc any where to finish the job

Hi, my Satlink WS 6906 does not work anymore.

I have no idea about electronic, but i think electronically is working.

Is there are a loader with a .bin able to revive my satfinder?

update news...
its okay now i have found out.
step to step
1/ plug RS232 to usb
2/ start up software
3/ get bin (update)
4/ click next
5/ switch ws-6906 on
there you go...

Hello,

I bought this ws6906 from amazon few weeks ago and there is no signal ! any one knows about this issue ? Thanks
 
If you try it on a working system and scan that satellite in you should get a signal, else the unit is faulty.
 
Use a usb to rs232 cable if you didnt get one with the satlink. When connected, switching on the satlink with start the download/upload screen if i remember rightly. I'm on holiday at the moment and cant check the process. If you get really stuck i'll check again once i get home.

Just wanted to ask if yuu mabe have a new list of transporderes for WS - 6906 becouse ewerithin is changed since 2013 whenn ou posted your zip.file?
Or is it stil working on TP1 for europa for all satelite?

FYI, I bought a UGreen USB (at the PC end) to RS232 DB9 male (connects to the USB-to-RS232 female lead supplied with the WS-6906) conversion lead from Amazon - see http://www.amazon.co.uk/Converter-A...8&qid=1454001260&sr=1-5&keywords=usb+to+RS232.

It works well, but you do have load the USB driver from the small CD supplied with the lead - don't use the generic driver which Windows will load or , when the "Upgrade.exe£ file from the small CD supplied with the meter is fired up, it will not recognise that there is a COM Port 7 for the conversion lead - so put the conversion lead CD in the CD/DVD drive BEFORE you connect the lead to the PC USB port, and then everything should go OK when you then connect that lead to the one supplied with the meter.

After that I was able to load the "Upgrade.exe" file which is on the small CD supplied with the meter and do a data dump from the meter and then load the new file supplied by Paul (although it took a couple of tries before I got the process right).

A word of warning to anyone buying a new SatLink WS-6906: it might be one of the newer revision hardware models and if so, the firmware/data dump that Piltdownpaul has uploaded on Page 1 will render these models inoperable. You can still load the firmware, however the "Lock" light always remain lit and you will not be able to scan/view channels or measure signal strength. If you didn't take a firmware/data dump of your own prior to applying Piltdownpaul's version, I have uploaded a working firmware version from my WS-6906 which you can flash. You can download it from here: Dropbox - satlink_6906_original.zip

Note: My firmware/data dump contains one satellite and a fresh channel scan (Astra 2E, 28.2). I highly recommend you do your own firmware/data dump before flashing.
 
Hi - Sorry for ressurecting an old thread - but has anyone got the updated firmware for the WS-6906?

My one has suddenly stopped being able to find any satellites in scan mode...
