Hi -
Having bought an AV-Comm polariser some time ago -- this thread has prompted me to get it machined internally so as to properly accept a regular C band l.n.b..... (as i was not happy just fastening one to the back of the AV-Comm) - looking forward to seeing the results from you and the others ....:)

.... I'm just nipping up to the couriers NB to send two off these packages of for two of the members ..... when i get back i'll post some pics and my feelings etc :)
 
Plenty of test results here, I will invest in one of these nice bit of kit :)

Oh right ho, just that when i opened it up i saw a load of my posts re: my polariser barrel exploits from the past.
Yep, Ponny and other great German experimenters have been here done that many moons ago and have given me many tips and inspiration ;)

Right then ....
I have to say first that i have received excellent communications with AV-Comm, they have been courteous & quick with their responses to me. Iv'e had stuff off them in the past and was excellent then, Top Drawer company.
The box of bits arrived today, all items individually packed very well.
5x barrells machined front and back, 5 Zinwell Cband lnbf's, 5 high quality flat PF scalars+fixing bolts.
All 5 Zinwella have been tested and all ok.
The barrels are very good quality.
The Zinwells are really substantially built, not cheap thin stuff as found on others.
Seeing as i am going to mod my Zin iv'e took the back plate off to show what they have got under the covers.

Will follow up with more when they get put into service.

The Zinwell looks ripe for modification to make it into an LNA which could be fed into a dual band down converter, either from a Tit or custom. That will fix the frequency stability What's the IC to the right of the DRO box?

Now the pressures off to get these 3 boxes packed and up to the couriers i will take a better resolution picture for you to feast your eyes on ;)
